Strive for Progress, Not Perfection

This is my health and fitness fanatic blog. In 2011, I was at my heaviest ever weight and desperately wanted to lose weight. The end of 2010 and 2011 were not kind to me and it was reflected in my poor health. Around March 2011, I started to get more active but still hadn't truly grasped the concept of living healthily. I smoked cigarettes (helped the hunger pangs) and drank too many energy drinks (which I enjoy from time to time still rather than several a day). I restricted food and worked out too hard, too often without giving myself days to rest. I used exercise and running as a punishment for a variety of things...being late to work, eating poorly, not having enough sleep. I used any self-perceived shortcomings as a reason to make myself run. As you can imagine, I hated working out and running became a negative obsession. A friend suggested I sign up for a 5k run with her, just for fun. I did it and enjoyed myself. I did it for me and for fun, not as a punishment. So I stopped punishing myself with exercise and running and began rewarding myself with it. I think I finally understand what it means to live healthily and happily. I am at my lightest weight ever. I am obsessed with running; that first 5k paved the way for many, many more throughout last year and I was hooked. I love boxing. I love baseball and softball. Here, I will feature recipes, workouts, fitspo and a good dose of motivation! I am also a huge sports fan and my favorite teams will more than likely make it on here from time to time! Join me on the highway to health!
